JEF2.2 / JEFF3.0 Improvements on Spent Fuel Inventory Prediction in LWRs. Trends from Integral Experiments and Proposals for JEFF3.1

چکیده
This paper summarized in a first part the C/E comparison of UOx and MOx spent fuel inventory; improvements on U-Np-Pu build-up prediction, as well as Pu, are pointed out using the recent JEFF3.0 evaluations. In a second part, improvements in JEFF3.0 still required are emphasized; trends on Am(n,γ) crosssection are particularly detailed and then an increase by 15% ± 3% in the 0.01eV – 2eV range is recommended.

Evaluation of Alternative Partitioning/transmutation Scenarios Using Transmutation in Light-water Reactors (lwrs)
Previous Advanced Fuel Cycle Initiative (AFCI) studies were made to assess the effects of the existing accumulation of LWR spent fuel in the United States on the capability to partition/transmute actinides using existing and advanced LWRs. The concept of treating the “oldest fuel first” indicated that significant advantages could be gained in both partitioning, transmutation, and in overall cos...
متن کاملCost analysis of the US spent nuclear fuel reprocessing facility
a r t i c l e i n f o The US Department of Energy is actively seeking ways in which to delay or obviate the need for additional nuclear waste repositories beyond Yucca Mountain. All of the realistic approaches require the reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel. However, the US currently lacks the infrastructure to do this and the costs of building and operating the required facilities are poorly es...
متن کاملMass Balance of the Pu and Minor Actinides Recycling Metal Fuel System
The mass flow of Plutonium and minor actinides is calculated for a future LWR-FBR fuel cycle model, in which a certain scale of power generation by LWRs is continued for a long period before the replacement by FBRs begins. The burnup of the LWR spent fuel is considered to be higher than the current standard. It is assumed that all the Plutonium and minor actinides recovered from LWRs are kept a...
متن کاملTowards an Analytical Model for Film Cooling Prediction using Integral Turbulent Boundary layer
The objective of this work is to develop deep theoretical methods that are based on the solution of the integral boundary layer equations for investigating film cooling in liquid rocket engine. The integral model assumes that heat is transferred from hot free stream gas to the liquid film both by convection and radiation. The mass is transferred to the free srteam gas by the well-known blowing ...
متن کاملModal Analysis of Spent Fuel Cask for WWER-1000 Reactors
The Spent Fuel Assemblies (SFAs) of WWER-1000 reactors are planned to be transported by special containers which are supposed to be designed in a manner to stand against vibrations and impacts in order to protect the spent fuel from any possible damage. The vibration opposition of these containers shall be far beyond the critical resonance, because the resonances about the natural frequency of ...
